Science education and public outreach specialists, scientists, formal and informal educators, science communicators, and others from the US and abroad share perspectives and seek collaboration regarding current issues around science education. The proceedings contain six plenary lectures, 17 reports from workshops and special sessions, 12 oral presentations, and 41 poster papers. Among the topics are looking homeward toward Earth, using the big ideas in cosmology to teach college students, the Galileo teacher training program global efforts, lifelines for high school climate change education, engaging in online group discussions using Facebook to enhance social presence, and whether democratic space tourism could contribute to Earth stewardship.
