Since then the World Health Organization (WHO) published the 'Histological Typing of Tumours of the Thymus' in 1999... 'In 2004 the WHO published the 'Classification of Tumours Pathology and Genetics of Tumours of the Lung Pleura Thymus and Heart'. Y Shimosato and Y Mukai were members of the working group authoring this work.' ...'The present fascicle has adopted the WHO system of classification. Some pathologists may not be familiar with the WHO classification system. We have tried therefore to extensively explain and illustrate both the morphologic and histogenetic classification systems that are the bases of the WHO system of classification.'
