This will be the first comprehensive yet practical handbook of transfusion medicine. It will be edited by the director, Leslie Silberstein, of the leading transfusion medicine training program in
the country. The other current transfusion medicine books are all 1,000+ pages, and too detailed for use by anyone but transfusion
medicine specialists. It will describe all blood products and blood cell types currently used in transfusions, their appropriate applications, pathophysiology of conditions managed by transfusion, and pathophsiology ofadverse reactions. Each chapter will follow a standard format including numerous tables and algorithms, summary elements will be highlighted throughout by a second-color screen for quick reference.
