My fifth Precision Intricast Newsletter Book, "Foot and Lower Extremity Biomechanics V, Precision Intricast Newsletters, 2014-2018" is nearly ready to go to press and will be expected to be ready for publication by early December, or about a month away. This latest Precision Intricast Newsletter Book, includes 60 newsletters from January 2014 to December 2018 with 56 illustrations, a table of contents, a newsletter chronology and an index.

Much of the subject matter is what I would consider to be at the cutting edge of podiatric biomechanics, with novel analyses of foot and lower limb function within almost every chapter. It also includes practical techniques and clinical pearls that may be employed to more effectively diagnose and treat problems of the foot and lower limb. The book is not heavily referenced, in the main, it represents the original thoughts of one of the finest minds currently working within the field of podiatric biomechanics, where references are employed they are carefully selected to provide the clinician with an insight into some of the latest biomechanical research and to illustrate the points being made.

Dr. Kirby is to be congratulated on producing yet another truly outstanding addition to the literature base. When coupled with his first volume, this second volume forms a unique, comprehensive and invaluable corpus of information for the teacher and practitioner of clinical biomechanics. The author's clear writing style coupled with his excellent diagrams make for a stimulating learning experience. There is much benefit to be gained by the practitioner from reading every chapter.

If I may speak from a personal perspective just briefly, the fact that I sit here typing a review for Dr Kirby's fifth Precision Intricast Newsletter compendium is a rather big honour. I still remember the day I received his first book through my letterbox as a newly graduated Podiatrist myself in 2003. It was one of the best investments I made early in my career, and I now have all five sitting proudly next to each other on the shelf in my study, with their matching marble effect covers which sates my obsessive compulsion about such minutiae. To this day they remain the most thumbed books in my whole library. I am far from the only professional who has been significantly influenced by Dr Kirby's writing and teaching over the last several decades, and wouldn't be unreasonable to state that his contribution to the Podiatric profession as a whole is unparalleled.
